Tips for trips in Siberia and Far East

Russia is a big country and it offers various opportunities for travelling: cultural or adventure; historical or religious; dedicated to crafts, cuisine or literature; Siberia together with Far East and Kamchatka is the most mysterious and inviting its part. Its vast territories are full of natural attractions, historical and religious monuments.

The easiest and most common way to get to Russia is to fly to Moscow or to St. Petersburg. Once you are there it is highly recommended to spend there a day or two even if it is not your main destination. If you have some more time to spend in Moscow and St-Petersburg you can look through our advises (Moscow tips and St. Petersburg tips) and examples of itineraries to get inspired.

Then you can either take a train and travel along the most popular and romantic railway road - Trans-Siberian Railway road or take a plane and fly to Irkutsk, Abakan or Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Taking one of the all sorts of the Trans-Siberian trips you have an opportunity to see almost the whole country in quite a limited period of time. To get a better idea of the variety of such trips please study our examples of the itineraries and general recommendations.

Irkutsk is the most convenient destination for those who want to see the holy lake Baikal. If you are short of time you can visit only Listvyanka village but we would recommend you to spend at least a week in the area and make a trip to Olkhon Island. Get inspired with our itineraries and tips for Baikal.

Travelling to Abakan will get you an opportunity to explore one of the most remote and untouched with the civilization regions of Russia – Tuva. We can organize a trip just to Tuva or visiting this region can be included in a bigger journey like in one of our itineraries. Here is our list of ‘must have’ activities in Tuva.

The flight from Moscow to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky takes almost 9 hours but it worth this; as you get to the land of wild and almost untouched nature – Kamchatka. Please take a look at one of our tours in Kamchatka.

We can provide you with an itinerary you like without any changes or combine different tours to get a tailor-made tour for you.
