The following itinerary is a working guide only and is a subject to variation as a result of local conditions, weather and governmental restrictions.
Day 1. Meet at the train station in St.Petersburg. Departure by train to Apatity in late afternoon.
Day 2. Arrive in Imandra train station in the Khibiny Mountains in early evening. Walk 1 – 1,5 hours to our first camp in Goltsovka River Valley.
Day 3. A day walk to the Aku-Aku Gorge, Khibinpakhchorr and Yumyekorr Passes. Overnight in the same camp.
Day 4. 2 hours walk to Chasnayok and Meridionalny crook junction to leave the luggage in our next camp. Continue higher up into the mountains to see the impressive Fersman circus.
Day 5. Over the Southern Chorrgor Pass to the Petrelius River Valley.
Day 6. A day walk to the Western Petrelius Pass and depending on the weather on to the highest point of the Khibiny Mountains on the plateau on the top of Mount Yudychvumchorr, 1200 m. Back to the camp in Petrelius Valley.
Day 7. Over the Southern Rischorr Pass to Kaskasnunyok Valley. Camp in the pine-fir-tree taiga.
Day 8. Walk up to Akademicheskoye Lake, then down to camp in Tuliok Valley.
Day 9. Over Vortkeuayv Pass to a road head where we meet a vehicle taking us to Kirovsk.
Visit Polar Botanical Garden in Kirovsk. Hotel.
Day 10. It might be possible to visit Mineralogical Museum in Apatity before our train to St Petersburg which leaves Apatity at 12:11.
Day 11. Arrive in St Petersburg by train at 12:11. Trip ends.
