European Russia

This part of Russia is most known for it's huge and famous capital, Moscow and for St.Petersburg of course. But there is much more to see in the central Russia apart from these cities. There are so many wonderful ancient Russian towns with old kremlins and catherdals, houses and sites that have witnessed so many historic events beginning from the early ages of the ancient Slavic state. Beautiful Russian architecture, with its whitewashed walls and gilded domes will help you feel the real Russian history. You can find nice wooden houses and churches hidden in small villages. Despite that north-western part of Russia is full of different town and cities, there are also wild forests, vast meadows and fields, pure lakes and rivers to be visited.

    


Russian Capitals

Ancient Russian cities that have witnessed so many historic events beginning from the early ages of the ancient Slavic state. There you will meet with traditional culture, beautiful St. Sophia Cathedral and the monument to the Russia's 1000th anniversary. Moscow, over 850-years old capital of Russia represents traditional Russian culture together with western elements and modern art. St.Petersburg, the "second capital" is much younger ans has celebrated it's 300 anniversary in 2003. Bearing so many names as the Venus of the North, the Northern Palmyra, the cultural capital of Russia, this second largest city of Russia has been attracting people throughout all its life.

    


Russian North

Northen lands of European Russia have been inhabited for a long time. Up to know there are many wonderfully carved wooden churches and chapels, pretty houses left and lost in small villages in the middle of the forest. Thier charming natural beauty and simplicity will leave great impession and will help you feel the real Russain village. And a trip to the famous island of Kizhi will be something beoynd imagiantion, a 22-domed wooden church towering over the island and changing color during the day will stay in the memories forever.

Ladoga Lake

Ladoga lake and the territory around it have always been attractive for many peoples and later for different countries, that’s why most of the fortresses situated in this area suffered many battles, sieges and fires. For example the town of Vyborg was founded by Swedes, belonged for some time to Sweden, to Russia, to Finland and finally to Russia again.
