Detailed Itinerary

The following itinerary is intended as a working guide only and is subject to variation as a result of local conditions, weather and governmental restrictions. We reserve the right to alter (lengthen or shorten) the trip any time if necessary. Airline schedules are subject to change, both international and domestic, and it may be necessary to vary our itinerary to adapt to these changes.

 

DAY 1. Arrival in Kiev. Your guide will meet you outside customs and immigration and transfer you to the hotel.

 

Day 2. City tour. We go to the monastery complex of Kiev Pechersk Lavra, including Holy Trinity Gate Church, Assumption Cathedral, Refectory Church, and Lavra Caves. We’ll also visit the Cathedral of St. Sophia, where the princes of Kiev were crowned in the years of Kiev’s grandeur; its outstanding mosaics and frescoes date back to the 11th century. Our city tour will include Khreschatik Avenue, Independence Square, Golden Gate (a structure dating back to 1037), St. Vladimir’s Cathedral, Dnipro (Dnieper) River lookout, St. Michael’s Gold Domed Monastery, Kiev Founders’ Monument, St. Andrew’s Church (a Baroque masterpiece of the 18th century), the artists’ quarter, and the Podol historical area. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

In the evening we take the overnight train to Simferopol. Overnight on train.
 

DAY 3. Arrive in Simferopol in the morning. We’ll have a local sightseeing excursion, then drive to the town of Luchistoe. Camp near the town at 582m above sea level.

 

DAY 4. From the campsite we follow path to the fortress of middle ages Phuna.

Passing the fortress we get the Valley Of Ghosts. Here the "Devil finger " (a 30m rocky column) situated. Finishing the valley will get a survey glade. From a glade magnificent view on town Alushta,
mountain Chatyr-Dag. Walk up to the top Southern Demerdzhi 1230m.
Continue walking we get top of mountain Bosna (1285м). From here fantastic view of East Crimean mountains looks through.
Continue to the village Perevalnoe from where we take the support transport and 4 km drive to the Red caves campsite at 280m. Tents. About 7 hrs walk (22km).
 

DAY 5. From the campsite walk along small river Krasnopeshchernoj passing picturesque trays to the waterfalls Su-Uchkhan (25m). From here we walk up on the tuff platform (a wide glade with the good view around). From the platform short walk gets us to an input of The longest cave of the Crimeathe Red Cave (Kizil-Koba). In this great hall with grand stalactites and stalagmites, at the bank of the underground stream, and set speechless lake, like an transparent tear, with light of torches 5 thousand years ago the religious ceremonies were performed. During 40 minutes -1hr we explore the equipped part of a cave with the local guide. Continue hike following Dolgoruky Aila (a plateau at 900m above sea level) we walk down to the river Burulcha by a good track. And then to the stream East Suat, following which we get the natural boundary East Suat. From here walk up along opened slopes to the plateau Karabi.. Our camp will near the meteorological station, on the survey glades at 1000m. Tents. 7 hrs walk (20km).

 

DAY 6. Karabi area.  Walk to the cave Big Buzluk. in the cave even in the summer the temperature does not rise above +2С, and in niches-cracks you can see transparent ice stalactites hanging as lusters. From under a talus centuries thickness ice looks through. We plan to visit the cave. After visiting of the cave walk to the direction upper plateau of Karabi - Kara-Tau. From the plateau we climb Tay-Koba summit (1230m). From top lunar landscape of the Karabi area opens. Walk down and following the southern slopes of the upper plateau o we get back to the campsite. In the evening participants can go to the "Russian Bath" located near by the camp. Tents. About 5 hrs walk (14km).

 

DAY 7. Following the track we get the dry lake "Egiz-Tinakh". Continue along the track we arrive at the Greater Gate Pass (1058m). From pass spectacular view to the Black Sea and nearby rocks faces opens. Walk down to the Small Gate. Continue walking through the woods passing Kalliston Pass and then the Alakat Pass we get the Lower Kok-Asan campsite at 540m. Tents. 7 hrs walk (22km).

 

DAY 8. Walk up to the glades of Upper Kok-Asan. Passing small mountain spring Pavlo-Chokrak we get the pass Gorucha (743м). From pass the beautiful view opens. Passing walk around the Appointment Rock, we go down to the village Zenenogorie. From village walk down in a valley of the river Shelen and further to the village Morskaya. Camp in about two km from village at the Voron stream (about sea level). Tents. 6 hrs walk (18km).

 

DAY 9. Walk down to the sea we follow an ecological path. Hiking via cape Ay-Phoka, Karaul-Oba mountain it is one of the most beautiful tracks of Crimea and leads to the Novi Svet town. In the last century this place referred to the "Paradise". Having passed on the Golitsin path, we get near the Novi Svet town. Without exaggeration we can say that it is the most beautiful part of East Coast of Crimea. The unique microclimate, rare verdure, picturesque landscapes all of these is Novy Svet. Amber champagne sparkling in wine glasses is also Novy Svet. And exactly here prince L. Golitsyn "the father of Russian winemaking", has founded the factory of the champagne wines that have glorified and its creator and native winemaking. Walk 3 km from the town and camp at the foot of Sokol Mountain at around 70m. above sea level. Tents. 6 hrs walk (18km).

 

DAY 10. At the beginning walk up to the top of Sokol mountain (474m). From the top we will have a magnificent panorama of Crimean mountains. Descent from the top aside the Sudak town and passing the settlement Uiutny(Cosy) we approach to the Genoa fortress, the most kept historical monument of Medieval Crimea. Fortress is an outstanding monument of fortification architecture of the 14-15th centuries. It was built by the Genoese who settled in Feodosia and began to develop the Black Sea Coast in the XIII century. Having examined a fortress we Walk to the resort settlement Sudak - a beautiful and tranquil locale on the Crimean Black Sea coast. The history of Sudak dates to antiquity. It is a small Crimean town of unfailing charm, surrounded by fantastic mountains. Night at the hotel in the town. About 4-5 hrs (8km) Dinner at the hotel restaurant.

 

DAY 11. Drive to Yalta visiting interesting places around. We will visit Massandra Palace, visit Massandra Winery; you will see how wines are produced and will have a chance to taste and savor Massandra wines; visit to the world-known Livadia Palace, the former Crimean residence of the Russian Emperor Nicholas II; this Renaissance-style White Palace became the site of Yalta Conference, 1945; have short tour in Crimean pearl - Yalta, accommodation at a hotel. The group participants can choose and go for the dinner at what place they prefer. Hotel

 

DAY 12. Day in Yalta. Relaxing at the seaside. Hotel

 

DAY 13. Drive to Sevastopol, short tour, visit Balaklava harbor "charge of the Light Brigade" site. Drive to Bakhchisaray exploring area and continue driving to the railway station in Simpheropol. Departure by overnight train. Overnight on train

 

DAY 14. Arrive in Kiev in the early morning. Transfer to the hotel. Free day to explore the city. B...Hotel

 

DAY 15. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
