Biking tour in Uzbekistan

This is a special trip for those who are keen on biking. You will get an opportunity to see old mosques and madrases and peasants’ houses form Nurata Mountain. You will be able to imagine yourselves just a nomad staying in yurt camp in Kizilkum Desert. Colorful markets, samples of traditional crafts and specialty of Central Asian cuisine will left good memories after the trip.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
This is a biking trip and you will need some certain physical health and good biking skills to go through it. The trip includes 8 days of biking covering 30 - 50 km daily and visiting ancient cities of Central Asia: Samarkand and Bukhara. We will go mainly on good country roads and also go on some asphalt. The traffic is very small. You will see different types of landscape and beautiful sceneries, mountain villages and traditional yurts of nomadic tribes from Kizilkum Desert.

GRADE AND QUALIFICATION
Good biking experience is required for the trip. The road is not difficult except for some rather steep upgrades on asphalt or good country roads. Also we should be ready to cope with ruts and damages on country roads made by Spring rains. You should be in good physical condition and have good biking experience to feel yourself comfortable when biking for several hours. Hiking experience is a plus as we will spend many nights in tents, sleeping in sleeping bags etc. The trip is supported by a car, so that the bikers travel only with day-packs. For that purpose a comfortable rucksack is necessary. There are a camp-manager (and) a cook in the car to make the camp and dinner ready by the time when the bikers arrive to the next campsite.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
Meals are included in the initial cost. We will eat in hotels and restaurants in Tashkent Samarkand and Bukara. A cook will prepare food for the times of biking. We try to consider vegetarians, but unfortunately we can’t always suit the same standard as in the western countries. If you are a vegetarian please inform us beforehand.
During the trek we live in tents. For that purpose a sleeping bag and mat will be necessary. It might be possible to rent them if you do not have one. The camp-manager will take care on organizing the campsite. Also we provide a shower tent and warm water.
In Tashkent, Djizak, Samarkand and Bukhara we will spend nights in comfortable hotels. In a yurt camp we will stay in traditional yurts.
