Sightseeing in Georgia

This week tour gives you a unique opportunity to see the most interesting and remarkable cities, towns and places in Georgia. The trip is designed as a sightseeing tour and is fully supported with transport. Old monasteries and modern cities, historical museums and splendid sceneries will certainly tell you a lot about Georgia as well as about Russia and the Caucasus.
 
Georgia is a country of great beauty and diversity. The Europe's highest mountain chain - Caucasus, extending from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea, separates Georgia from Russia. Spectacular landscapes ranging from the Black Sea subtropics to snow capped peaks and from thick forests to semi-deserts. The main part of Georgia is located on the south side of the Greater Caucasus range resulting in a sunny and warm climate.
 

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION

From the very first day when you arrive in Tbilisi and up to the very end of the trip all food is included into our program. There may be different types of good restaurants with European or national cuisine or a traditional lunch in a family.
Accommodation in nice hotels*** is based on double occupancy. We can offer HOTELS of the higher quality upon special request.
 

OUTLINE ITINERARY:

The following itinerary is a working guide only We reserve the right to change it due to local conditions.
 

Day 1. Arrive in Tbilisi. Transfer to the Hotel (35-40 min.). A short city tour (depending on the time of arrival). Hotel.

 

Day 2. Pantheon and Mamadaviti Monastery (6th-19th c). Drive to semi desert Udabno to David Gareji Monasteries, 75 kilometers (1,5-2 hrs. drive) from Tbilisi.  Excursion around the Monastery. Return to Tbilisi. Hotel.

 

Day 3. Drive to Mtskheta (30 minutes' drive from the center). Continue to the southern part of Georgia. Passing Gori (1,5 hours drive from Mtskheta) we head to Uplistsikhe cave-town.  After excursion we drive back to Gori. A visit to Stalin's museum. Then we continue our trip to Borjomi (160km from Tbilisi, 1 hr. From Gori). Hotel  in Borjomi.

 

Day 4. From Borjomi we drive along the river Kura Valley to the South to the cave town Vardzia (12c) (110km, 2-2,5 hours). On the road we stop at an ancient Khertvisi Fortress,  a short excursion to Sapara Monastery of the 10th century.

Vardzia. Excursion. Lunch. Return to Borjomi. Hotel.
 

Day 5. Drive to Kutaisi, (150km. 3hrs). We start from Bagrati Temple, built in the 11th century, then we drive to Gelati Temple. Return to the hotel. 

 

Day 6. Excursion to Gelati Monastery, near Kutaisi.  Return to Vartsikhe Residence

 

Day 7. Drive to Tbilisi (236 km, 4-4,5 hrs). After the lunch, Tbilisi  sightseeing tour: Metekhi Temple (12th c.), Narikala Fortress (6th century), Sioni Cathedral (7th c.), Georgian State Historical Museum, Fine Arts Museum. Hotel.

 

Day 8. Transfer to the airport. Depart from Tbilisi.
