The Heritage Of Turkmenistan

This is actually a Trans-Turkmenian trip, when you will travel through all the country and see all the major object of interest in Turkmenistan, feel the local spirit, experience the country’s traditions, customs and culture. After this trip you will have a right to say that you know what is Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan is not well known as a country of the great tourist interest. But being located on the famous Silk Road - the most important trade route of Central Asia the country still has many sites preserving the land's spirit and culture for thousands of years. And besides, have you heard that archeologists and historians have discovered the 5-th area of civilization in Margush, the ancient kingdom of Merv region in Turkmenistan? Using the material of the recent excavations archeologists proved that this kingdom existed 5 thousands years ago. People there had been good in different handicrafts and arts, had been involved in agriculture, and had built palaces. They also had had a written language. Thus word historians proved the existence of this 5th center of ancient civilization, together with India, Egypt, Mesopotamia and China.
The trip starts at the shores of the Caspian Sea, which is often considered as the greatest lake on the earth. After a pleasant motor boat excursion you will see the famous and very salty Kara-Bogaz-Gol Gulf, which is 4,5 meters lower than the Caspian Sea level.
You will also see Dekhistan and visit the ancient lands of Dahks, a historical region in the west of Turkmenistan famous for the Great Mashat cemetery with Shir-Khabir Mausoleum (10-th century) and the ruins of Messarian town (10-15 centuries). Nokhur will certainly please you by its unique traditions of handicrafts and architecture preserved throughout the centuries. Ashgabat is the capital of Turkmenistan. With its very rich and long history, nowadays it is a modern city with many new monuments and sites built just recently. Nearby there is Nissa, an ancient capital of Parsian Empire. The Cultural Museum of Kunya-Urgench is located on the territory of the Sate Historical Reserve. The town is famous for its magnificent monuments dating back to the 13-14th centuries AD including the number of common buildings of the Middle Ages as madrasahs, mausoleums, fortresses and one of the tallest minarets in Central Asia.


Grade and Qualification
The trip combines some easy trekking and sightseeing.The whole trip is graded A. You will not need many efforts and the walks we have resemble more as a pleasant promenade than true trekking. Although we will spend most of the nights in tents, sometimes at wild campsites and food will be prepared at the camp, which is a part of a trekking trip.


Food and Accommodation
All meals and accommodation are included in the trip cost. On the trek a cook prepares all meals. Some dinners will be at the National Hoses with tasting of local traditional dishes. For the trek we recommend that you take a small "goody bag" with you for the times when you need some extra energy or when you are suffering from a lack of appetite. Accommodation is based on double occupancy. On trek we will stay in tents and when in towns we will stay in hotels. from time to time accommodation in private houses is most likely. All accommodation is included in the initial trip cost.


Weather
The weather is mild and pleasant both in spring and in autumn due to its warm and clear days. The air is not at all as hot as it is in the middle of the summer when everyone is trying to hide from the heavy sunshine. In spring and autumn the sun is tender and enjoyable. The area is especially beautiful in spring due to the natural vivid and colorful carpet of wild flowers covering most meadows and hillsides.
