Khibiny Mountains

Khibiny is not very high mountain massif on the Kola peninsula, located almost 150 km to the north from the Polar Circle. The highest altitude is the Mount Yudychvumchorr - 1200 m. Here the trekker can enjoy quick succession of landscapes including tundra which is unique for the European mountain systems. It makes Khibiny inimitable in their beauty. One of the specific features and advantages of these mountains is also the long light "polar" day lasting throughout all summer. The climate here is much more mild than in any other polar region of Russia due to the warm Gulf Stream current washing the shores of Kola Peninsula. The average summer temperature is +15C. Northern taiga, woods of crooked and dwarf birches, shrub and lichen tundra, picturesque river valleys and flat summits, lots of berries and mushrooms - all is waiting for you on the trip.
The program is designed to have some nice hiking in the mountains with unique flora and fauna. And of course it is always possible to prolong your visit and stay in St. Petersburg for a couple more days.
