Our Team

Geographic Bureau staff is a strong and friendly team of hard-working professionals. Our passion to traveling to remote areas unites us in our mutual aim to provide our customers with unforgettable and very special holiday. If you join us in wild area trips you will feel yourself in a pleasant company of people from different countries, accompanied by friendly staff. Many of our customers became our friends.

Our idea is to let you feel the beauty and magnificence of our homeland, touch the wild nature and start to love it as we do. We wish that you could see that the former USSR countries have a lot of things to show and to tell the world. Many places which are hardly known anywhere outside these countries are really worth seeing.
There are so many people working with us in different regions that it is impossible to put them all into one page. So the information about our staff is a short sketch to let you imagine what kind of people you will meet when traveling with Geographic Bureau.
Many of us are professional geographers. Others are professional travelers and geographers in their hearts.
 

Mikhail our principal, has got his bachelor’s degree in landscape studies at St. Petersburg State University. For several years he has worked for the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, the Institute of Geography, participated in and arranged numerous expeditions to many remote areas. He has been operating in tourist business since 1989 and is an expert in Central Asia.

Andrei our manager and trek leader is cartographer by education. He has also graduated St. Petersburg State University. For several years he worked as a research fellow and expeditions manager in geographical research institutions. Trekking, skiing and white water rafting was a hobby that transformed into expertise knowledge of these activities and the mountainous areas. Andrei has got certificates and qualifications in international schools of adventure activities and medical aid. He supervises numerous wilderness programs.

Konstantin our expert and program manager is Ph.D. in geography, associate professor at St. Petersburg State University, he used to teach at several American Universities. He has long experience in wilderness traveling and expeditions management.

Gia is in charge of our trips in the Caucasus and at the same time is our chief guide there. Has graduated State Technical University in Tbilisi (Georgia). Finished guiding and instructing school organized by the mountaineering department of the Sport committee of USSR. Since 1992 he has been working as a mountain guide and tour leader for different western adventure companies. He has made more than 235 climbs on about 100 summits of different grades. Most of the ascents were with clients as a mountain guide. He has climbed Mt Elbrus 68 times.

Sergei has been working with the Geographic Bureau for more than 16 years. He is a Doctor in Mathematics. He has been guiding in various programs in the Caucasus and has ascended different mountains in Asia and Caucasus, including Peak Lenin and Mt.Elbrus (25 times).

Akhmad lives in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. He acts as a camp manager, cook, donkeys and donkey men supervisor, etc. Geographer by education he has graduated from St Petersburg State University. When he is not in the expeditions he works for the Ecological Inspection in Samarkand.

Maria assists us with various duties. She is in charge of our tours to Northern Russia. She also sees to that all things works in the office. She is the fan of paintball.

Toma is our biking and trekking guide.

Andrei is our guide and biking specialist. But he is also a professional in marketing. He is guiding our biking tours and makes the bikes ride faster. Andrei is a very easy-going person, an interesting companion and professional guide.

Natalia is our biking and trekking guide. She has graduated St.Petersburg State University and is a specialist in french language and culture. With her charm and fluent French Natalia easily becomes a friend to the travellers. She is a nice person and a good guide.
